Winner: “Ahwahnee Meadow” By Douglas Croft
“This stand of trees in Ahwahnee Meadow has always intrigued me,” says Croft. “I have photographed them bare of leaves in winter snow, with new spring buds and in their fall foliage. I have no photos of them in the summer, as I avoid the Valley like the plague during those crowded months. My wife and I visited Yosemite in early November to try to catch the Valley’s fall colors and were fortunate that the first snowstorm of the season blew in while we were there. It was magical to see the clash of seasons as we walked around the Valley, and this view in Ahwahnee Meadow was no exception.”
